Heritage and Performance

Heritage frames the way we see and understand the past, as well as the meaning it has for the present. It can be seen as a performance that is concerned with the construction or reconstruction of cultural identity, memory, and/or a sense of place and belonging. Proposals that seek to investigate performative traditions that are intangible heritage, the process of meaning-making, performative learning at heritage sites, or questions of authenticity will be considered.
