The IRC’s Prof. Ullrich Kockel gave a keynote at an international conference in Turku, Finland, this June. The theme of the conference was “Constructing Social Futures: Sustainability, Responsibility and Power”. Prof. Kockel spoke on “Heritage Futures: Tradition, Gain, Sustainability”.
Each year, the Finland Futures Research Centre organises its annual conference, an invaluable opportunity for meeting, exchanging and debating current topics related in futures studies and foresight. With approximately 200–350 participants attending from all over the world, international researchers, organisational delegates, business people and students convene to the annual conferences in the spirit of futures-oriented information, research, analysis and collaboration.
The 20th Futures Conference focussed on the concept of agency in action and research for futures. ‘Constructing Futures’ emphasized and challenges related to the need for building and critically evaluating capabilities necessary for sustainable futures.
