The IRC's Prof. Chris Tinker was one of the organisers (with Jonathan Ervine, Bangor, and Hugh Dauncey, Newcastle, of FMRG24 Videogames (#fmrg24), a conference which was held on 23 October 2015 at the University of Newcastle. The academic study of French video games and videogaming arguably remains underdeveloped, especially in the UK and the US, and this conference contributed to a focus on French and Francophone video games as 'popular cultural' artefacts and practice.
