Ian Baxter is Professor of Historic Environment Management, and Director of the Scottish Confucius Institute for Business & Communication at Heriot-Watt University. He's also a member of the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research and the Faculty of Human, Social & Political Science at the University of Cambridge, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Suffolk.
He originally trained as an archaeologist and has spent the last 20 years investigating strategic management within heritage and conservation organisations. He is a Trustee Board Member of The Heritage Alliance and Vice-Chair of the Built Environment Forum Scotland – the national representative bodies for heritage NGOs in England and Scotland. He is a member of a number of professional advisory bodies including the Institute for Historic Building Conservation's Education, Training & Standards Committee.
